Distributed Computer Systems Analyst - 70027883

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Martin Correctional Institution for the Office of Information Technology in Indiantown, Florida.

Salary Rate:  $41,000.18 Annually

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will be responsible for providing support for computer systems at multiple sites, including major institutions, probation & parole offices, community facilities, region offices, and other Department or related sites: field staff responsibilities below apply to most computer equipment (including personal computers, midrange minicomputers, and the large mainframe computer), telecommunications and related software.

  • Provide support for computer systems at department sites, to include mobile devices, desktop workstations, and file and print servers.
  • Support local area network and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Support VOIP Phone system.
  • Responsible for planning, designing, implementing and troubleshooting the local area networks and client/server architecture including connecting personal computers to the local area network, installing both client and server software products.
  • Maintaining documentation related to the local area network and personal computers connected to the environment, and troubleshooting problems.
  • Responsible for installation and support of a statewide, wide area, or distributed systems network of computer equipment (hardware/software), including site surveys and installation planning, initiating request to add, delete or move data circuits, coordination with electrical and cabling contractors, processing of Information Resource Request (IRR’s) equipment orders, cabling and installation of equipment, and post-installation support and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for installation and support of network computers, including setup and loading of software; and performing the technical role of system manager including functions of backup, recovery, troubleshooting.
  • Assists with providing general DP/Help Desk support for all data processing in the Service Center
  • Assists with the maintenance of inventory of DP equipment in the Service center
  • Coordinates with other DP areas of Corrections and other Agencies to solve any DP issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):

  • Knowledge of computers and software.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2003 and desktop computers running Windows 7.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Backup Exec and TrendMicro Anti-virus software.
  • Knowledge of recent thin-client technologies and VOIP are helpful.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Three years experience with supporting PC’s in a Windows environment.

2. Two years experience in the administration of a Win2K/2K3 network.

3. Experience in the maintenance or repair of peripherals (printers).

4. One year experience in computer skills teaching or three years professional teaching background.

5. A+ Certification.

6. One or more major Microsoft Certifications.

7. One year experience in a customer service/help desk environment.

8. Experience in support of Novell or other Local Area Networks.

9. Two or more years programming/systems analysis experience.

10. Eligible for veteran’s preference claimed.
