This position performs advanced, specialized nursing work requiring certification in a designated specialty area. The incumbent provides comprehensive primary and specialty care to individuals living with HIV and performs approved medical procedures in accordance with established clinical protocols. Responsibilities include assessing risk factors, interpreting laboratory results, and initiating appropriate referrals. The role implements nursing standards for advanced practice, supports the development and execution of program policies and protocols, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on HIV prevention and treatment initiatives. Work is performed under the direct and indirect supervision of a physician and in accordance with written protocols. This Career Service position is eligible for on-call compensation per applicable collective bargaining agreements. All duties require accuracy, safety, adherence to protocols, and professional communication with clients, staff, and community partners.

- Performs histories, physical, and evaluates risk factors within the standards of accepted medical practice and protocols.
- This is done with cultural competence and in consultation with a physician as needed.
- Performs and/or orders labs, diagnostic procedures, and makes appropriate referrals as necessary.
- Analyzes data and uses problem solving skills while working within a team environment.
- Maintains patients' records and ensures timely entry of each encounter in the electronic health record.
- Provides guidance regarding appropriate community resources.
- Provides STD services to males and females, as indicated.
- Provides family planning services as indicated.
- Provides specialty care services to patients who seek care at the Comprehensive Care Center.
- Provides comprehensive health assessment of client's physical, psychosocial, and environmental status in order to
- develop, implement, monitor, and modify a plan of care.
- Assists in updating policies, procedures, and manuals as it relates to HIV services.

- Assists in tracking outcomes of patients seen at the Comprehensive Care Center, especially as it relates to disease control, prevention, and social determinants of health using data and evidence-based practices.
- Attends provider meetings, in-services, seminars and trainings for self-improvement, increased competency, and retention of skills.
- Participates in orientation and staff development programs for persons assisting with client care.
- May oversee the work activities of ancillary personnel.
- Ensures timely completion of all mandatory trainings. Ensures accurate and timely submission of employee leave and attendance records, Employee Activity Records (EARS) and travel vouchers.

Qualifications
Minimum:
- Active and in good standing license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
- Must have experience in an adult healthcare setting (women's health, primary care, specialty care).
- Must have experience in diagnosing/treating patients for sexually transmitted infections and diseases to include HIV.
Preferred:
- Certification in HIV or Infectious Disease
