Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is a highly responsible professional position.  The incumbent manages and reviews all data systems in the laboratory and identifies and recommends changes to management to improve the use of resources and accountability.  This position requires the ability to work independently without close supervision but will work under the direction of the bureau chief.  This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training. Travel is required for this position.

 

This position might require work beyond normal schedule, weekends, or holidays, when requested and/or necessary with less than a 24-hour notice.

 

Analyzes all laboratory data systems to provide needs assessment for identifying resource requirements and develops request for needed resources.  Provides technical solutions to the data system support staff.

 

Provides technical support and supervision of the Data Processing staff.  Develops and implements software to increase the operational efficiency of the administrative support staff.

 

Responsible for the overall management of data systems used in the laboratory.  Provides technical support to program offices, county health departments, other bureaus, other state agencies and private contractors for the provision of electronic laboratory interface to access laboratory data.  Plans, develops, and implements electronic laboratory reporting to providers and program offices using the laboratory services.

 

Conducts in depth review of the current laboratory data systems to determine laboratory information management needs.  Recommends changes and improvements to ensure systems used in the laboratory conform to departmental standards.

 

Develop specific recommendations for resolving data systems to provide information for management to improve policies and decision-making capabilities within the bureau.  Design and implement new projects as needed.

 

Conducts all activities in a professional manner, exercises tact and diplomacy, shows sensitivity to others and maintains sensitive information in a confidential manner at all times

 

Performs other related duties.

Qualifications:

Preferred –

Bachelor’s degree.

5 years of experience.
