The Florida Department of Health in Duval County is seeking an experienced desktop support technician for our Information Technology team to provide tier 2 and tier 3 field-based and helpdesk-based services to our customers. Applicants for this position should be able to employ method-based troubleshooting techniques to determine the root cause of customer problems and be able to compile documentation around implemented solutions to create a knowledge base for the rest of the Information Technology team. Candidates should have experience providing technology training to customers and employ accurate inventory management processes.




This position requires that you have at least two years of experience installing and configuring laptop and desktop computer hardware and software components, installing and troubleshooting computer peripheral devices (mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner…etc.) and providing computer hardware and software customer support either on-site, over the phone or via remote desktop interface. Must have experience with Information Technology trouble ticket assignment, tracking and resolution software applications and with Information Technology asset inventory software applications. Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint…etc.) and able to lift 50 pounds.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Troubleshoot desktop, network, and server hardware and software using well-defined and repeatable methods.
  • Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at an expert level.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in SQL report building.
  • Demonstrates Information Technology asset management techniques.
  • Writes in a concise and organized manner.
  • Speaks clearly and coherently.
  • Can lift 50 pounds safely.
  • Can crawl under desks as needed.
  • Can climb a ladder safely.
