Pay:

$43,260 Annually

Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Review and evaluate permit applications for conformance to state and federal rules and regulations.
• Produce permits and/or documents and request for additional information (when required) that are technically correct, clear, understandable, and consistent with prescribed rules and department guidance and procedures. Perform site inspections, as necessary, in support of reviews and evaluations.
• Write permits and requests for additional information, when required, within time frames provided in department rules, guidance, procedures and district goals.
• Work towards achieving business plan goals.
• Ensure that the data entry corresponding to all assigned projects is entered into the department's databases and Oculus timely and appropriately, consistent with standard operating procedures.
• Provide technical assistance to Compliance Assurance Program.
• Provide regulatory assistance, such as outreach, permitting determinations and exemptions, to permittee and/or company representatives, other department programs, delegated local programs, and other interested parties.
• Participates in cross-training activities.
• Performs other duties as required by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of the terminology, principles and analytical techniques of engineering.
2. Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.
3. Ability to understand and apply applicable regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs.
4. Ability to evaluate, analyze and interpret engineering calculations, plans and designs.
5. Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
6. Ability to work independently.
7. Ability to prepare technical reports.
8. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
9. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and leadership.
10. Ability to interact with customers in a tactful and courteous manner.
11. Ability to cross-train into multiple regulatory programs.
12. Ability to meet established performance standards as identified in the district performance standards document.
13. Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license.
14. Ability to produce quality work with little oversight and rework.

Required or Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college; or Any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described above, for a total of four years.
