REQUIREMENTS

The position is responsible for enforcing applicable Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Codes, Department Policies and Procedures related to sanitation, safety, and control of communicable diseases and hazards to humans in the following primary program areas:  Food Hygiene, Group Care, and Mobile Home parks as well as other Environmental Health and Safety Program areas. 

 

Incumbent will be able to understand and apply specific rules, regulations, and policies and procedures relating to the safety and sanitation inspections of regulated facilities. Has the ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.  Ability to work independently. Ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques as well as computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, Power Point and the Environmental Health Database System.  Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.

 

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited College or University in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or a Physical or Biological Science is required.  

 

Must have a valid Driver's License, free of major infractions, and the ability to use your own vehicle.

 

Must be willing and able to work outside in the elements which may include extreme heat or cold.

 

Experience working in an area related to the physical/biological/environmental health sciences and experience communicating or educating the public is preferred.
