CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
  3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
  4. This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
  5. As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
  6. Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One (1) year experience landscaping or maintaining grounds and property or related work 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull.
  • Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be capable of climbing a ladder and using a hi-lift to 40 feet.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure proper maintenance of base lawns, shrubs, and trees to include:

  • Maintaining all lawns on base ensuring that the length does not exceed 6 inches between cutting.
  • Maintaining all field areas on base ensuring that the length does not exceed 8 inches between cutting.
  • Maintaining all ditch lines on base ensuring that the length does not exceed 10 inches between cutting.
  • Ensure all sidewalks and curb areas are edged once a month during the growing season.
  • Maintaining hedges and shrubs around base insuring that they are trimmed at least once a month during the growing season.
  • Survey and determine shaping and trimming requirements for trees on base annually.

 

Ensures proper maintenance and servicing of mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, and edging equipment to include:

  • Performs maintenance and repairs on push and riding type mowers and Identifies equipment that require.
  • contract maintenance to the State Supervisor.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs of weed eaters, chain saws, hedge trimmers, blowers and stick edger’s and all other 2 cycle lawn equipment.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs of walk behind edger’s.

 

Maintains facility restrooms cleanliness:

  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and waxes floors.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.
  • Cleans mirrors and water fountains.
  • Dusts ledges and woodwork.
  • Replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.
  • Cleans corridors, stairways and/or other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, waxing, and polishing floors.
  • Operates lightweight cleaning equipment, i.e., vacuum cleaner, and polisher.
  • Uses mops, brushes, brooms, cloths, water, wax, soap, and cleaning solutions.
  • Polishes doorknobs and other metal fixtures.

 

Performs all other assigned duties:

  • Perform all other duties assigned to include but not limited to assisting other State Employees as required in their assigned duties.

  • Skill in the safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment to perform duties.
