REQUIREMENTS

 

Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of professional work experience in Epidemiology or a minimum of four years experience working in a communicable disease program (HIV, STD, TB). Preference will be given to individuals with a Master’s degree in Public Health or related field from an accredited college or university with an epidemiology specialty and 2 years of professional experience in Epidemiology.  Must have experience with medical data abstraction, electronic medical records systems, or medical terminology.  Must have experience applying epidemiologic methods: study design, creating surveys, analyzing data, etc.  Must have experience interacting with or providing technical assistance to public health professionals, laboratory staff, or health care providers.  Must have excellent organizational and communication skills, including public speaking and preparation of written materials such as documents and reports.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

This position engages in data collection activities for Duval, Baker, Clay, Nassau, and St. Johns Counties for the Area 4 AIDS Program Surveillance Unit and ensures reporting of cases to the State Health Office. This involves conducting active HIV/AIDS Surveillance through reviewing medical records to determine if a patient meets Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) case reporting criteria. Assists with the development of methods to expand the system for HIV/AIDS surveillance to ensure 100% reporting of all cases. Assists in the completion of Surveillance data as it relates to risk exposure and provide feedback to the health officials.

 

Conduct medical record reviews for assigned patient within the program. Frequent contact with multiple departments within healthcare facilities to necessary to acquire patient information. Perform data collection, entry, management, and analysis for assigned program area to ensure accurate data. Work with partners as needed to address trends and inform through verbal and written reports, presentations, data management, and organizational tasks. Ability to produce a variety of data reports including creation of automated reports being delivered to multiple sites.
