CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 

The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

Must maintain a valid Driver's Licenses.

As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e. High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

 

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Two years of basic experience involving electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist, grasp, push, pull.
  • Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures proper maintenance and repair of electrical systems to include indoor and outdoor lighting systems, electrical buss systems, 120 and 480 volt receptacles and electrical distribution panels.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and repair of water distribution and plumbing systems.
  • Performs operative maintenance on HVAC Systems.
  • Ensures proper maintenance and repair of structural and architectural systems.
  • Ensures proper use of shop equipment and portable power tools such as table saws, drill press, band saw, belt sanders, pipe threading machines, grinders, Freon recovery systems and all other assigned tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining maintenance work orders and equipment records.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work.
  • Knowledge with small engines and motor repairs.
  • Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to conduct air conditioning and heating repairs.
