CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
- Two years of basic experience involving electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning systems, or structural and architectural systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, push, and pull
- Must have manual dexterity with hands and fingers
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs. or more
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as a Maintenance Mechanic at a 265,974 square foot Army Aviation Support Facility. Responsible to the Lead Foreman for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility to include utility maintenance and repair, allied aircrafts shops maintenance and repair, response to work order requests, submission of project requests to CFMO and supervision of subordinate maintenance repairmen and contract employees.
- Coordinates and monitors all building and property related to day-to-day operations to include repairs, services and oversight of any contract labor performed. Reads blueprints and written technical specifications in the performance of day-to-day duties. Acts as liaison between the facility Lead Foreman, architect, and general contractor. Coordinates building repairs and/or real property issues as necessary with the Lead Foreman. Coordinates with the Lead Foreman on warranty related repairs on jobs performed by subcontractors.
- Manages facility custodial requirements and energy conservation programs. Ensures that the facility is maintained at the highest standards or functionality and appearance. Utilizes expendable and non-durable items for facility upkeep and notifies Lead Foreman when items need to be purchases or re-ordered. Plans and coordinates with appropriate State personnel to execute facility energy conservation programs in order to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Operates heavy/light machinery, equipment, and power tools to include tractors, 120-foot boom, forklifts, and welding equipment. Maintains current license on facility equipment with secondary focus on aviation related ground support equipment. Assists in servicing of organic facility equipment. Maintains inventory of associated power equipment and tools in support of maintenance efforts. Participate in facility Safety program to ensure OHSA requirements are met.
- Maintains 47.26 acres of facility grounds, aircraft parking apron, seven buildings and associated parking lot. Operates farm tractor, bush hog and backhoe. Ensures proper operation of aircraft wash rack and ensures HAZMAT disposal meets OHSA compliance standards by conducting inspections for possible environmental protection agency violations.
- Other duties as assigned. Assists Lead Foreman in day-to-day operations by executing tasks as directed by them. Completes jobs on a work order request system and tracks all projects using a Project Log.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work
- Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work
- Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators, and other mechanical equipment
- Ability to take accurate measurements
- Ability to follow instructions
