Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is detailed from Duval County Health Department (area 3) to the headquarters Bureau of Immunization. Area 3 covers Duval, Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Nassau, St. Johns, and Union counties. This employee is a member of an area immunization field staff, assisting in data collection, tracking, and technical assistance under the supervision of a Bureau of Immunization Operations and Management Consultant I. In an assigned geographic area, the employee works with county health departments (CHDs), private health care providers, public and nonpublic school officials, childcare center operators, military installations, volunteer organizations, and other groups in fulfilling federal immunization grant requirements. The employee will perform specialized public health work in areas geographically removed from direct supervision to include conducting on-site Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program provider-specific quality assurance reviews to ensure that all providers who receive vaccines from the State comply with the State and Federal VFC guidelines. This entails the performance of Assessment, Feedback, Incentive, and Exchange (AFIX) style reviews on public and private providers. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all providers receive AFIX reviews to help improve their immunization coverage and them storage and handling practices. This position serves as Information Custodian Backup for specified information sets in accordance with completed form DH 1151, Information Custodian Delegation of Authority, and maintains departmental, division and bureau security policies, protocols and procedures for protection of data and release of confidential information. This position also serves as Key Custodian Backup for specified secure areas in accordance with completed form DH 1155, Key Custodian Delegation of Authority, and maintains departmental, division and bureau security policies and procedures for protection of data and release of confidential information. This position will assist in helping increase the immunization levels among the counties in area 3. The position will assist the CDC, National Center for Immunizations and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), and the State of Florida Bureau of Immunization (801), in achieving the Healthy People 2010 goal for Immunization by assuring that at least 90% of the area's two-year-old children successfully complete their primary series of immunizations before their second birthday.
Works under the supervision of the area supervisor and the regional 801 manager to determine which private and public providers under the VFC Program will be assessed. Contacts the providers and schedules appointments to assess immunization records for specific age cohort. Conducts quality assurance and quality improvement activities for the providers to generate provider-specific feedback on progress toward meeting federal and state mandated goals. Educates providers and staff on compliance as well as addresses opportunities for improvement. Provides follow-up by presenting results via written reports to B01 in Tallahassee and the provider assessed.
Performs a review of each provider's immunization levels using NCIRD's management-designed Comprehensive Clinic Assessment Software (CoCASA). Provides analysis and interpretation of the Standards of Pediatric Immunization Practices, determines whether each provider is following the guidelines to decrease barriers that would inhibit children from receiving the recommended childhood vaccine and conducts AFIX reviews. Provides technical assistance, education, and training to physicians and staff.
Responsible for managing the field office data sets including but not limited to organization, storage, retrieval, updates, and archives, including both paper and electronic versions. Data sets include but are not limited to coverage level assessment data, AFIX and VFC Program data, survey data (both original and validation surveys), perinatal Hepatitis B data (Merlin) and Comprehensive Clinic Assessment Analysis (CoCASA).
Responsible for data collection and data entry into appropriate software and format. Responsible for compiling data and preparing reports from the data sets available.
Responsible for providing training to community partners in areas which may include but not be limited to the Health Management System (HMS), CoCASA, Merlin, Florida SHOTS, reminder and recall activities, vaccine storage and handling, and recommended immunization schedules for infants, adolescents, and adults.
Responsible for providing general field office support for communication (phone, fax, email, correspondence), equipment, and supplies.
Develops and uses expertise in Merlin, Florida SHOTS, HMS, and CoCASA to generate appropriate monthly reports for supervisor, county health department partners, and private providers.
Develops and uses expertise in Florida SHOTS and Health Management System (HMS) to provide training and technical assistance for proper client registration, use, and report generation reports.
Primarily responsible for conducting assigned field office VFC Program-only visits to private providers.
Primarily responsible for conducting assigned field office orientation visits to new VFC Program providers.
Primarily responsible for collecting childcare, Head Start, kindergarten and 7th grade survey data annually and conducting validation assessments. Serve as coordinator for the field office with county health department school health programs, childcare and Head Start facilities.
Coordinate field office program activities with private schools in region and use data from school survey activities to develop and provide private-provider training designed to improve school immunization outcomes for immunization compliance and documentation requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to operate the Health Clinic Management System Immunization Module. Ability to collect and enter data for immunization assessments using the Clinic Assessment Software Application (CASA). Ability to maintain the Perinatal Hepatitis 8 Prevention Program Registry. Ability to conduct vaccine inventories.

Minimum - High School Diploma
Preferred - 1 year Immunizations experience
