This position might required some holiday and/or weekend work.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Receives, sorts, and delivers all freight, supplies, mail, and specimens that are received by the laboratory through Federal Express, UPS, US Mail, and various other couriers and freight deliveries.  Prepares all documentation for shipments received such as receiving reports done through the computer on the Ariba System and/or by purchase requisitions and other related sources.

Prepares, packs, and ships out various orders of supplies to facilities throughout the State that include all collection kits for serology, mailing containers for specimens, infant screening forms and envelopes, and empty coolers to be re-used.  Also prepares other various mail, lab results, specimens, and laboratory packages for shipment.

Maintains inventory on all stock in the Supply Department and orders supplies and related materials from the warehouse and various vendors and re-stocks shelves as needed.  Fills and prepares all in house supply orders and keeps corresponding documentation of inventory used monthly.  Fills all orders for Soabar and LabWare Labels as requested by the Jacksonville and four outlying locations of the Bureau of Laboratories.  Responds daily to telephone inquiries of 10 minutes or less.

Performs daily operation of the bio-medical waste program that includes the pickup and delivery of waste receptacles within the laboratory.  Assists and backs up the daily procedures and operations of the mail room to include sorting, delivering and processing mail within the complex and delivering mail to the US Post Office.

Maintains cleanliness and organization of all units and work areas.  Cross trains in other Laboratory Support Units as back-up for the program.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of record-keeping procedures. 

Knowledge of the basic concepts and principles of administrative principles and practices. 

Knowledge of the procedures, equipment and materials used in laboratory testing. 

Knowledge of basic math. 

Knowledge of bio-medical waste disposal practices.

Ability to work independently and as a team. 

Ability to communicate effectively. 

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum - High School Diploma or Equivalent. Driver License Class E.
