***This is a temporary position and the candidate can be hired at $18.00 per hour for 30-40 hours per week.***

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Travel for PDSL training, troubleshooting, and onboarding. Documentation of site visits and interactions. Contact clients per Supervisor request in professional manner.

Assist in maintaining QA documentation for laboratory.

Prepares, processes, and performs moderately and highly complex assays on submitted clinical specimens.

Prepares stock reagents, moderately and highly complex reagents, and media for use in virology Procedures and maintains a schedule of preparations and inventory records for reagents.

Performs quality assurance procedures and quality control testing.

Accessions submitted clinical samples, including assigning laboratory numbers to specimens and monitors specimen quality.

Maintains selected laboratory supplies and monitors function and provides preventative maintenance of selected laboratory equipment.

Analyzes and accurately reports testing results.

Trains technicians, technologists, and others on these procedures as directed by Supervisor.

Troubleshoot Specimen and Instrument issues.

Purchasing as required.

Performs laboratory tests in compliance with department procedures and all pertinent regulatory requirements.

Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.

Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. 

Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.

Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other departments, and external customers.

Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Demonstrates and educates laboratory principles and technical skills to others.

Performs related duties as required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures.

Analytical and critical thinking abilities. 

Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. 

Ability to perform laboratory protocols, procedures, validations, etc. 

Skill in the use of computers and related software applications. 

Knowledge of safety and infection control standards. 

Ability to work in a team environment. 

Knowledge of procedures, techniques & equipment used in lab testing and analysis.

Skill in the use of lab equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work independently and in a team.

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to direct daily workflow.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum - Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological Sciences. Eligible for State of Florida Clinical Laboratory License as a Laboratory Technician.

Preferred - 1 year minimum of Clinical Laboratory experience. State of Florida Clinical Laboratory License as a Laboratory Technologist. Master's degree in related field.
