Job Description

The position will assist the Juvenile Division judges and magistrates by gathering information on pending cases, notifying the judges or magistrates of the status of these cases, and assist the individual judges and magistrates to resolve cases expeditiously.

Examples of Work

  1. Provides support to the early childhood court judge or magistrate
    1. Assists with docket coordination and caseload management and attends all early childhood court hearings
    2. Serves as liaison between the court team, court administration, and the judge or magistrate
    3. Coordinates training for the judge or magistrate and the court team on related subject matters, such as infant mental health, trauma and toxic stress, child development, attachment, and the early childhood court approach
  2. Coordinates the activities of the court team
    1. Facilitates stakeholder meetings
    2. Coordinates and facilitates monthly family team meetings for each court-involved family
    3. Coordinates with local, state, and national partners to arrange training, quality improvement activities, and continuing education events
    4. Monitors adherence to Florida’s Early Childhood Court Best Practice Standards
  3. Represents the court team
    1. Serves as an early childhood court representative on statewide and national meetings and events
    2. Apprises the court and court team of related news, latest research, and statewide and national events
  4. Collects, tracks, and reports on early childhood court data in the Florida Dependency Court Information System

Education and Training Guidelines

A bachelor’s degree and two years of professional-related experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.
