ANTICIPATED VACANCY

Location Information: Regional Counsel shares coverage of the Northeast Region, including Judicial Circuits 3, 4, 7, 8.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advocate for the Department in delinquency court when needed.

Provide legal advice and training to Department personnel pertaining to delinquency issues.

Responsible for initiating litigation of Chapter 984 Child in Need of Services (CINS) cases and representation of the Department in CINS hearings.

Provide legal oversight of pre-litigation Family in Need of Services (FINS) cases as needed.

Liaison with Circuit Courts and stakeholders.

Analyze statutes, rules, and federal regulations.

Complete legislative bill analysis and administrative rules as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Juris Doctorate (JD) is required.

Membership in the Florida Bar in good standing. 

Minimum of 2 years of experience as practicing attorney.

Able to travel to counties within Northeast Florida region for court hearings and training purposes as needed.

SPECIAL NOTES:

This position is advertised as an anticipated vacancy.  Training will be provided.   Prior juvenile law experience is not necessary.  Candidates should submit a writing sample, resume and State of Florida application.
