This position is considered a technical position that requires exercising independent judgement and initiative in the application of departmental operations and procedures. This position requires an employee that is positively customer service driven. This position will report to the Records Center Manager within the Vital Statistics unit for the Florida Department of Health in Duval County.

 

Incumbent in this position will receive and process birth and death certificate request via in person, e-mail, USPS, fax and through VitalChek. Applications are processed in accordance with Florida Statue 382 requirements. Applications will be completed in the e-vitals system and ensures all necessary identification and documentation are included on the application. This position will provide information to respond to inquiries from funeral homes, hospitals, attorneys, and the general public as needed in determining eligibility for records and making independent decisions, Also, be able to assist funeral directors that are having issues with doctors completing death records.

Additionally, this position requires independent production work with office equipment. Incumbent will be required to operate a PC computer, keyboard, fax scanner, printer, copy machine, and adding machine successfully.

  • Ability to operate computer, printer, and copier

 

Qualifications

  Minimum:

  • High School Diploma, GED, and/or previous work experience
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Previous cash handling experience
  • Experience working with Vital records
