POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Jacksonville Regional Operations Center. This is a full-time position that supervises administrative and analytical positions providing intelligence and analytical support to the region. The incumbent will work closely with the regional law enforcement community to ensure the appropriateness and effectiveness of shared information. Under the direction of the Regional Command Staff, the incumbent will conduct research and make recommendations to management for the improvement, acquisition, and development of programs, grant opportunities, training, and technical equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Supervising requests for and receipt of information of a confidential nature;
- Coordinating the analysis and dissemination of information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources;
- Promoting these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies;
- Supervising the development and progress of detailed research relating to organized crime, terrorism, and professional criminals;
- Supervising the coordination of inter-state and intra-state information exchange pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement;
- Supervising the development of charts and activity maps regarding criminal activity, and the development of graphs and illustrations depicting the structure and interconnection of organized criminal groups and associates;
- Supervising preparations of oral briefings, written reports, and recommendations in the form of intelligence assessments, and detailed factual reports used by agency management and filed supervisors to evaluate investigative priorities in case development;
- Supervising and providing in-service training to analytical personnel and making recommendations concerning such personnel pertaining to their retention, promotion, and discipline; and
- Consulting with management to promote the most efficient and effective methods to accomplish the declared mission and objectives of the Regional Strategic Plan.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years of analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
- A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
- Vocational/technical training in the area of law enforcement, or college coursework from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 720 classroom hours per year for the required education.
Completion of the FDLE Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) within two years of hire date.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of report writing techniques;
- Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques;
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication;
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness, and usefulness of the data;
- Ability to review large amounts of criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness, and usefulness of the data; and
- Ability to report information clearly, concisely, and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
