This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensure proper coverage, and complete timesheets.
This is worked to promote, maintain, and improve individual and/or community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors. Incumbents collect and analyze data to identify individual and/or community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs and/or services designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments. Incumbents may also serve as a resource to assist individuals, other professionals, or the community, and may administer fiscal resources for health or nutrition education programs.
Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and supervising employees. This employee plans, conducts and monitors a generalized nutrition program in a designated area. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Senior Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor.
Provides services in the WIC program in accordance with the policies of the state WIC Program and regulations as stated in DHM 150-24. Responsible for caseload management as set forth by the nutrition plan. Responsible for supervising staff and monitoring nutrition programs in assigned area

Certify clients for participation in the WIC Program. Interview clients to gather demographic information, determine income eligibility and enter information into the FL-WISE system. Provide and review with clients required program handout materials. Responsible for obtaining WIC client’s height, weight and hemoglobin for certification and recertification as needed. Comply with bio-hazardous waste policy. Keep current with any laboratory policy changes and communicates information with supervisor for clarity. Update FL-Wise records to reflect the proper documentation and collection of income, residency, proof of identity and other certification data. Assess the immunization status of WIC program infants and children. Document findings in FLWiSE and refer as appropriate. Provide low risk individual or group nutrition education contacts, nutrition education kit contacts, and newsletter nutrition education contacts. Provide nutrition education in a group setting to clients to promote good eating habits, physical development and good health. Nutrition education is documented in FL-WISE in accordance with department policy.
Monitor site compliance with DHM 150-24 and FL-WISE regulations. Comply with the mandatory requirements in Section 215.422 Florida Statutes and Chapter 3A-24 Florida Administrative Code. Responsible for overseeing ongoing voter registration activities as outlined under Voter Registration General Procedures, DHM 150-24. Report on all participants and vendor complaints concerning program abuse as assigned and conduct follow-up activities. Responsible for security and privacy procedures ensuring the security of confidential client information and protect data integrity and access to information. Create site appointment schedules and monitor daily to maintain state mandated processing standards to ensure program integrity. Act as point of contact for fire and infection control inspections, general maintenance repairs, technology needs, and other building concerns.
Create and conduct staff training based on a local agency program reviewing data and clinic needs. Assist with new employee on board and training. Use chart reviews, program service delivery tool, productivity data, and anthropometrics/hematologic monitoring tool to continuously evaluate staff performance and conduct annual performance appraisals. Responsible for planning & directing employees’ daily tasks, including daily huddle meetings client services flow, and employee management to ensure optimal performance. Approving and monitoring attendance and leave requests, including FMLA and FSWP, and taking disciplinary action, if needed.
Act as a preceptor for future registered dietitians and dietetic interns: Pasco County DOH, Mayo Clinic, UNF, and other participating internship programs. Provide interns with experiences in community nutrition education, community nutrition programs, community indicators and clinic management. Familiarize interns with WIC program policies and procedures and educate on other community programs. Conduct outreach visits to other appropriate agencies, offices, and organizations to describe the benefits of the WIC Program, eligibility requirements and service locations. Participate in health fairs and provide nutrition information as needed. Plan, develop, and conduct education classes for the community in relation to Community Nutrition Programs. This includes presentations and speaking engagements in numerous settings such as schools, community agencies and organizations, churches and faith-based organizations, health fairs, and corporations.
Attend mandatory and scheduled training. Submit accurate and timely Employee Activity Record (EARs), time records, travel logs, monthly reports of activities and other reports are submitted to the NCDP Administrative Office. Answer telephones, file records and perform travel in relation to above duties and for professional development. Participate in the FDOH in Duval County- Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention Disaster Plan as required. Performs all other duties assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
- At least two years working in a clinical setting interacting with client/customer service.
- At least three years of leadership experience, have direct reports and managing a team.
- Must be available to work from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
- Must be available if required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
