This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employee’s work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.
This is work planning, developing implementing, conducting and/or evaluating food service or nutrition programs to assist in the promotion of health and control disease. May supervise activities of a department providing public health and clinical nutrition or food services, counsel individuals or conduct nutrition research.
Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and supervising employees.
The Senior Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor is responsible for the planning, implementation, promotion, coordination, and evaluation of community nutrition related programs, providing nutrition education and counseling to individuals and groups, writing grant proposals and reports, monitoring budgets, and supervising staff. Work is performed both independently with professional freedom and in interdisciplinary teams. This position includes a combination of providing managerial direction and oversight to assigned sites within the nutrition division and implementing community nutrition education initiatives. Ensure the provision of services in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program are in accordance with the policies of the state WIC Program and regulations as stated in DHM 150-24. Direction is received from the Director of Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention (NCDP) policies and objectives.

The Senior Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor is responsible for the planning, implementation, promotion, coordination, and evaluation of community nutrition related programs, providing nutrition education and counseling to individuals and groups, writing grant proposals and reports, monitoring budgets, and supervising staff. Work is performed both independently with professional freedom and in interdisciplinary teams. Provide direct supervision, coordination and evaluation of the work performed by assigned Senior Public Health Nutritionists, Public Health Nutritionists, Nutrition Educators, paraprofessionals, and other staff at assigned site(s). This position will be trained to perform as a WIC Nutritionist and will fill in as needed based on clinic demands and staffing needs. Responsible for conducting monthly quality assurance reviews at WIC site(s) and monitor WIC and other nutrition programs, as assigned, for compliance with appropriate regulations. Responsible for assigned site(s) reaching and maintaining its participation level at each site. Assure that the facility is equipped with all equipment and furnishings necessary for daily operations. Ensure the timely submission of daily employee activity records, timesheets, and performance evaluations. As a member of the NCDP management team, provide site and staff coverage for other supervisors when on leave.
Complete/update the Nutrition Program Plan, Local Agency Program review, etc. as assigned. Complete and submit assignments in a timely manner. Develop and/or update program related manuals and other documents. Assure that all program activities are relevant to the objectives of the division, agency, and community.
Assist in the development of professional and career development for the professional and paraprofessional staff with in the NCDP Division. Develop work plans, monitor, and evaluate services provided by interns, volunteers, students as assigned. Monitors the delivery of other nutrition programs as assigned. Coordinate activities with community leaders and other FDOH in Duval County programs to ensure the inclusion of the various nutrition services.
Attend mandatory and scheduled trainings. Accurate and timely submission of Employee Activity Record (EARs), time records, travel logs, monthly report of activities, referrals, and other reports are submitted to the NCDP Administrative Office. Answer telephones, filing, purge records, and perform travel in relation to above duties and for professional development. Maintain a courteous and cooperative working relationship with the staff, clients, and other Health Department staff at all times. Participate in the FDOH in Duval County - Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention Disaster Plan as required. Performs all other duties assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Valid Driver License/Reliable Transportation
- Florida License as a licensed dietitian/nutritionist is required. Must be a Registered Dietitian.
