Our Organization and Mission: The mission of the State Attorney’s Office is to pursue justice for the citizens of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida and to fairly and impartially enforce the law.
Position Summary: This is a varied and specialized position within the IT unit. Specialties include research; analysis and improvement of workflow processes; programming, computer operations, maintenance and upgrades of software and hardware and customer support.
Work may require knowledge of basic terminology, concepts, principles, practices and techniques of data processing and computer programming; data processing flowcharting techniques; mathematics; one or more computer programming language; methods of data collection and analysis; basic management principles; ability to think logically and to analyze and solve problems. Additionally, this work may require the development of rapport with user personnel to establish, maintain and promote user confidence in the use of data processing resources. This position may also include maintenance and upgrade of all computer software.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST III
Job Duties
- Train and supervise users and other IT staff as needed.
- Aid in the development of training programs and documentation.
- Confer with computer users and IT staff to identify workflows to better resolve program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition and use of internal controls.
- Analyze system and program performance and growth and advise management of capacity planning needs. Analyze and correct computer run malfunctions.
- Review software performance and implement changes to existing programming code to increase efficiency.
- Write, code, test and debug and document computer programs and existing and new computer source code.
- Develop and implement test and verification procedures.
- Resolve input data acquisition and the use of internal checks and controls
- Communication and system level application design and development.
- Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Aid programmers in application development by creating macros and maintaining data banks.
- Provide the initial and final points of contact for user problem tracking and resolution in a timely manner. Answer incoming phone calls from computer users and troubleshoot and resolve users’ problems.
- Develop and document standards for use, control, updating and maintenance of computer hardware and multifunctional automated office systems.
- Provide assistance agency-wide as it relates to the installation and implementation of automated office systems to include personalization of systems to correspond with the needs of the users.
- Operate computer hardware or software according to verbal or written instructions including software such as word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and time management software
- Facilitate access to necessary software applications
- Maintain optimal efficiencies of system software and all hardware and system software maintenance/support contracts.
- Develop and implement standard configurations for system software and implement upgrades.
- Interpret technical information relating to computer programming and data processing and case management systems.
- Perform mathematical calculations.
- Communicate technical data processing information effectively verbally and in writing.
- Prepare documentation standards and other written instructions to guide users.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Assess software training needs, develop conduct and coordinate training programs and activities for agency staff.
- Management and maintenance of various aspects of case management system/database.
- Attend Regional Work Group meetings, conferences and WebEx to stay current on FDLE requirements, changes and new procedures.
- Maintain Management Control Agreements and IT Memorandum of Understanding to ensure compliance
- Bilingual employees will assist in translations.
- Any and all duties required.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalency or vocational school with two (2) years of experience in computer operations, systems, analysis, or programming
- Related education and technical training certifications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for experience.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
A two-year college degree or trade school with data processing related course work, four years of technical office automation and computer related experience.
Knowledge of SQL coding to extract data from a SQL database. Knowledge of SQL Management Studio and writing Queries within it. Report writing in Crystal Reports software.
