Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position involves clerical work for the Hamilton County Health Department and includes performing moderately complex clerical and cashier duties such as data entry, collecting monies, issuing receipts, billing services, comprehensive customer service duties and reports under the Administrative Asst. I. Works in clinic area performing client intakes for all clinics including, Family Planning, Sexual Health, TB, Immunizations and Primary Care. Check-in processes will be followed according to protocols and manual/electronic health records will be maintained adhering to all DOH policies and procedures.
Client registration includes updating demographics, verifying insurance, and determining financial eligibility status. Provide optimal customer service including answering multi-line phone systems, routing call appropriately, schedule appointments and providing general information to the public.
Maintain an organized workspace with the most current and updated letterheads, clerical office correspondence, documents and consents. Performs timely and accurate documentation in the health record both manually and electronically including scanning documents per policy and procedures.
Collect fees, process charges, issue receipts, data entry, perform Medicaid and third-party billing. Prepare fiscal reports, prepare monies, and submit to supervisor daily for approval. Proficiently utilizes computer systems and office equipment.
This position will also be commissioned as a Deputy Registrar in Vital Statistics for the Hamilton County Health Department and abide by state laws related to the issuance of vital records in the county. Attend scheduled state office training sessions and conference calls as needed. Preparation of vital records’ certifications in response to public request and collect appropriate fees. Print, review and maintain required safety paper usage report for a daily accounting of all safety paper utilized in issuance of certifications. Review of records for completeness and accuracy before issuance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer software with experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. Communicating effectively with others. Ability to use active listening to answer/ask questions appropriately.
Providing high quality customer service to diverse population.
Skilled in basic mathematics to maintain/balance cash drawer. Operate office machines including fax machine, copier and laminator. Operate multi-line phone system.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
Knowledge of how to find information and identify essential information.
Qualifications:
Incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver’s license and have a motor vehicle to carry out these duties.
Preference will be given to those who meet the following requirements.

· Billing/coding experience
