Years of experience and type of experience required: 5 years of Registered Nurse experience.

License/Certification - list, if any: Valid FL RN License or Multistate License/Valid FL Drivers License.

Minimum Qualifications and /or Specific Position Information: Pediatric and Immunizations experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • This position requires direct supervision of nurses and other personnel assigned to the nursing program with emphasis on motivating and training employees. Incumbent will be under the supervision of the Senior Community Health Nursing Director and will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
     
  • Exercises direct supervision over nursing, support and clinical personnel.  Responsible for daily clinic operations and supervisory duties which include monitoring of clinical processes, flow, and productivity to ensure effective functioning and compliance with practice standards and quality measures.  Plans workload, clinic flow and directs employees to insure maximum use of time and resources.  Participates in ongoing development of clinic programs including nurse and support staff orientation, recruitment and retention of staff, performance evaluations, and other HR actions as appropriate.  Attend OCHD nurse management meetings, and participates on relevant clinical committees. 
     
  • Approves timesheets, approves and denies leave time. Makes sure that EARS are being completed correctly to each program.  Reports on a regular basis to the Nursing Director and Assistant Nursing Director, keeps them informed of all problems related to client or staff.  Under general supervision of Assistant Nursing Director for all clinical activities.  Consults Director of Nursing and Assistant Nursing Director for issues related to scope of practice.  Participate and assist to prepare and monitor annual budget and participates in all budget hearings and reviews.   Performs related field work as required and other duties.
     
  • Assists in all clinics as needed daily, including direct patient care and traveling to other sites in Osceola county.  Assists physicians with clinic sessions as needed to ensure proper flow of clinic and effective patient care. Accurately document all clinically patient information.  Performs telephonic and walk-in triage as necessary. Responsible for management of clinic resources, and appropriate assignment of staff roles/functions.  Assists staff with ensuring effective operations of the clinic.
     
  • Instructs and orients new personnel in public health procedures and practices.  Provides staff with ongoing instructions for problems related to their work.  Participates in community health education programs and activities, coordinates volunteer services, orients and trains new volunteers.
     
  • Works closely with Senior Management, Medical Director, Nursing Director, Assistant Nursing Director, Sr. Clerk Supervisor, physicians, and staff to provide assistance as needed.
     
  • Assists with developing and revising nursing procedures, evaluates clinic activities to insure that current medical techniques, policies and procedures are in use and properly carried out.  Participates in quality assurance monitoring of programs and staff. Ensure adherence to Nursing protocol, department of health policies, and nurse practice standards.
     
  • Participates in community health education programs and activities, outreach events, coordinates volunteer’s services, orients and trains new volunteers. 
     
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Responsible for timely submission of timesheets and EARS.
     
    Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
