Your Specific Responsibilities:
Provides professional nursing service in the care and treatment of patients within a public health setting. Complies with agency, program policies and daily nursing duties. Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and Medical Director.
Applies nursing principles and techniques in the direct care and treatment of patients. Make assessments of and documents patient's health status.
Assists providers in clinic sessions, maintains medical records, interprets, and implements provider's orders/ recommendations to patient, initiating patient care and follow up referrals as appropriate and accurately documents all clinically pertinent Information.
Assists with timely return of calls to clients, providers, and laboratories as appropriate. Helps to ensure appropriate and ongoing clinic flow with a continuous monitoring of Q-Flow. Completed pre visit planning for all scheduled patients in clinic and lab 48 to 72 hours prior to appointment times.
Issues medications/vaccines, take vital signs, obtain medical history, assists with maintaining inventory of medications, prepares and receives medication orders, coordinates preparation of examination/treatment rooms and equipment, performs physical assessments according to nursing protocols/standards/standing orders.
Reviews abnormal findings with Providers as appropriate and provides diagnosis-related counseling as appropriate.
Monitors efficiency and safety of medical equipment. Oversees immunization administration, Florida shots tracking, inputs details into HMS, and performs vaccine and medication inventory daily with both paper and electronic tracking logs.
Attends in-service educational sessions, staff meetings, and necessary classes for professional development. Performs venipuncture for specimen collection, performs simple lab procedures, assists with maintaining inventory of medical supplies. Assists with filing and other clinic operations when required. Performs other clinic related duties as necessary and/or assigned.
Floats to departments, providing a bridge in care, when staffing needs arise. Site locations include both the Fortune Road location in Kissimmee and the Dover Plum location in Poinciana
Assist leaders with Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives, actively participate on committees that are QI focused. Regularly performs inspections of and takes inventory of equipment such as the Automated External Defibrillator and eye wash station. Performs internal chart and medication audits.
Ensures timely submission of travel reimbursement, time sheets and EARS information as appropriate.
Provides nursing services as required during disasters. Works before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responds to threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Represents the Department of Health at offsite events in the community.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Ability to administer prescribed vaccines. Ability to provide direct patient care and treatment. Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Skills in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing nursing care.
Qualifications:
Minimum -
- A Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Florida or a multistate license
- A valid Florida Driver's License and are you willing to travel to other sites in Osceola County to perform your duties
- At least one year experience providing immunizations
- Current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
- Willing to physically come into the office daily and perform field work
- Willing to perform emergency duties before, during and/or beyond normal business hours and/or day in the event of an emergency, disaster, or threat of disaster man-made or natural
Preferred -
- At least one (1) recent year of experience as a Registered Nurse
- At least one (1) or more years of experience in any of the following: Primary Care, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV health, hospital setting, or outpatient clinical settings
- Experience in documenting and retrieving clinical information on the computer
- Experience documenting in the FL SHOTS registry
- Bilingual in English and Spanish and fluently speak, read, and write both languages
