About Us:

The Office of the Public Defender for the 9th Judicial Circuit serves Orange and Osceola Counties by providing legal defense to those unable to afford private counsel. Our mission is grounded in justice, dignity, and service. We are currently seeking an entry-level Automated Systems Assistant to join our growing IT team in supporting our attorneys, staff, and operations in a fast-paced legal environment.

Position Overview:

The Automated Systems Assistant will provide front-line technical support for our office’s hardware, software, and network systems. This role is primarily Level 1 troubleshooting with occasional Level 2 tasks. The ideal candidate will be personable, self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a high-demand setting. Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor are essential, especially when assisting users who may not be technically inclined.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 1 help desk support: troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, VoIP phones, and other end-user devices
  • Assist with Level 2 technical support: operating system support, network troubleshooting, and device imaging
  • Travel to regional offices (Orange and Osceola Counties) to provide on-site support as needed
  • Support larger IT initiatives and deployments at the main Orlando office
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support issues, resolutions, and equipment inventory
  • Set up and configure new hardware and user accounts
  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors as necessary
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff at all levels

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft) preferred
  • 1+ years of hands-on IT support experience preferred (internship or volunteer experience accepted)
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, and basic networking concepts
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common hardware/software issues independently
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation for interoffice travel (fleet vehicles available for approved work-related travel)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) is a plus
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally (for equipment setup)

  • Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) preferred to assist with diverse user needs

Work Schedule & Compensation:

Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
(Occasional early mornings, late afternoons, Rotating weekend duties may be required.)

Starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
