Your Specific Responsibilities: This position performs Maintenance/Repairman and custodial assignments at the Hendry Health Department (CHD) building in Labelle. Incumbent in this position will follow all universal precautions as prescribed by OSHA in Handling cleaning solvents, chemicals, Safety equipment, ladders, etc. and will follow safety standards to perform this job. Position is headquartered at the CHD in Labelle.
Incumbent will be a backup for Clewiston and Moore Haven CHD as needed. Incumbent reportsdirectly to the Operations Management & Consultant.
Specific duties / Responsibilities include:
Being able to lift up to 35 pounds, will require the use of ladders and basic tools that are needed to do light repairs needed to building.
Changing of light bulbs, use of ladder, basic tools knowledge hammer, wrench, screwdriver, drill, etc. other duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of using common chemicals, hand tools and/or equipment related to the position
- Ability to follow all universal precautions as prescribed by OSHA in Handling cleaning solvents,chemicals, etc
- Ability to follow safety standards in handling all equipment and supplies necessary to perform this job
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to work effectively with other DOH staff
- Ability to work flexible hours if needed
- Ability to understand, interpret & apply Statutes, Rules and Regulations that pertain to the programs
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Ability to use a computer
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb a ladder
Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or an equivalent GED is required.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and be able to move around freely to complete duties.
- Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of a disaster or as needed. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
- Willing and able to travel between work Locations (Clewiston, Moore Haven, LaBelle) if needed
- Willing to perform heavy cleaning duties, handle cleaning supplies and light maintenance
