ADVERTISING TITLE: CORRECTIONAL SERVICES CONSULTANT
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at the Region II Office.
The mission for this role is to maintain a secure and compliant environment within the correctional facilities, ensuring the safety of staff, inmates, and the public while upholding the standards and regulations set forth by the department and accrediting bodies.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Compliance and Accreditation: Assist in interpreting and monitoring compliance with statutes, rules, procedures, and ACA standards; ensure all security aspects of regional facilities maintain their ACA accreditation.
- On-Site Visits and Training: Conduct on-site visits to observe security operations, clarify issues with staff, participate in staff training, and serve as a liaison between regional and institutional staff.
- Emergency Preparedness: Serve on the Emergency Plan Review Committee, participate in the Regional Emergency Operations Center during emergencies, and conduct specialized training for various emergency scenarios.
- Program Coordination: Coordinate the regional Drug Interdiction program, monitor the Quarterly Security Roster, and assist with the preparation of various reports including overtime, vacancy, and staff utilization reports.
- Communication and Innovation: Review research documents for innovative ideas, handle incoming correspondence on security issues, prepare responses, and act as a liaison to other local, state, and federal agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess:
- Eight years of professional experience in corrections (see description of experience below) or.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in criminal justice or one of the social or behavioral sciences and four years of professional experience in corrections.
- Professional experience must be in a correctional setting and include the following or a combination of the following to gain the required years:
- The care, custody, and supervision of inmates.
- Case management experience in a correctional setting.
- Experience in a correctional setting that includes auditing or policy/procedure compliance.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
