This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Reception & Medical Center in the Chaplaincy Department.

 

Salary Rate: $42,230.24 annually

 

SALARY WILL BE APPLIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH PAY POLICY. THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE APPOINTED AT THE ABOVE LISTED APPOINTMENT RATE.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interviews and counsel inmates on religious, family, and institutional matters.
  • Coordinates and schedules all religious program activities, such as sacred text study, Baptism, Confessions, Communions, and worship service.
  • Responds to correspondence and telephone calls regarding religious department matters.
  • Keeps records of all religious activities and ensures compliance with ACA Religious Standards.
  • Maintains and improves professional knowledge and skills through participation in workshops, conferences, training programs, and staff meetings.
  • Visits sick inmates and staff; notifies inmates of family member’s serious illness or death, notifies inmates’ relatives of inmate’s serious illness or death.
  • Provides supervision to inmates assigned to work in the religious department and performs weekly Health and Safety inspections of physical facilities.
  • Develops and implements religious program goals and objectives.
  • This position may supervise OPS positions by communicating with, motivating, providing or coordinating training, assisting in evaluating employee’s work or planning and directing employee’s work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess an associate’s or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in theology, religion, education, or one of the social or behavioral sciences.
  • Must possess a current ordination, or investment officially with ministerial or priestly authority by an ecclesiastical body.
  • Must possess a current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate official of the ecclesiastical body.
  • Must possess two years of professional experience as a clergyperson.
    • A master’s degree can substitute for one year of experience.
