Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position provides administrative support for clinical functions and will assist with billing functions at the Bradford & Union County Health Departments. This position is based in Union County but may require travel to Bradford County.
Interviews clients to determine economic eligibility for enrollment in the county health department primary care program, family planning and other health department programs. This position processes enrollment of clients as specified by the county health department procedures. Use of the FMMIS system to verify Medicaid benefit status as well as other electronic verification systems is an integral aspect of the enrollment process.
Answers the telephone and makes appointments for patients for all clinic services. Prepares charts for clinics including compiling charts, requesting medical records, scanning and entering services for all records after services have been completed. Ensures medical records are current with all information and assists with the purging of files of inactive clients.
Determines financial responsibilities of clients based upon services received and payment status of client; collects fees for services rendered and provides receipts to clients. Processes credit card payments and required daily reports.
Serve as Deputy Registrar under the supervision of Chief Deputy Registrar. Assists Chief Deputy Registrar in their absence.
Assists Environmental Health section clients when necessary. This position also provides information to clients regarding water samples to include collection of fees, samples and information. Other Environmental Health administrative support functions as necessary.
Read & respond to email on a daily basis. Other duties as assigned including disaster preparedness.
Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purposes of protecting confidentiality, data integrity and appropriate access, for all information, both confidential and public record, that is stored in hard copy or electronic formats. Follows Department and local security policies. Every employee has a specific role in our loss-prevention efforts. All employees will: participate actively in the facility’s safety program and observe all safety measures; report all accidents and near-misses; correct or report any safety hazard in his or her work area; wear the proper PPE.
Performs other duties as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the rules and regulations related to confidential information. Understanding of clinic procedures, DOH and FQHC policies. Skilled in completing documentation of work. Ability to follow directions.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Minimum of 6 months experience working in a front desk setting in a medical office.
Experience scheduling appointments in a multi-provider clinic utilizing an electronic medical record system.
Preferred:
Experience working with the State of Florida Vital Statistics system, including printing birth/death certificates.
