This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Reception Medical Center in Health Services.
Our mission in the pharmacy department is to ensure the safe and effective use of medications within the correctional facility. We are committed to providing accurate and timely dispensing of prescriptions, offering medication counseling, and promoting overall health and wellness. Our goal is to support the medical needs of inmates and staff by maintaining high standards of pharmaceutical care and ensuring compliance with all regulations and guidelines.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervise pharmacy services at the Reception and Medical Center (RMC) in Lake Butler, FL, ensuring pharmaceutical care for patients in various medical units, including oncology, dialysis, surgery, urgent care, and psychological treatment.
- Oversee the sterile compounding of chemotherapy, as well as the pre-packaging, dispensing, purchasing, storage, and inventory control of medications in the main pharmacy and the satellite oncology center.
- Directly supervise Senior Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, set performance standards, evaluate staff, and make recommendations on personnel actions.
- Provide clinical pharmacy services, write chemotherapy formulas, monitor labs, supervise clinical pharmacy staff, consult with prison medical staff, and ensure each patient's treatment plan includes the appropriate medications.
- Prepare and update health services policies and procedures, ensure compliance with USP standards (795, 797, 797R, and 800), ensure timely delivery of pharmaceuticals, and maintain staff compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations. Ensure the pharmacy is staffed appropriately to cover all shifts, as it operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure as a pharmacist in accordance with Florida Statutes 465.
- Licensure as a Consultant Pharmacist through the Florida Department of Health.
- Two (2) years of hospital and/or oncology compounding experience.
