This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Reception and Medical Center in Health Services.

 

The mission of the Office of Health Services at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide comprehensive, high-quality medical, dental, and mental health care to inmates. This includes promoting overall well-being, preventing illness, and effectively managing chronic conditions. The office is dedicated to ensuring that all health services are delivered with compassion and professionalism, supporting the rehabilitation and recovery of those in our care. Through these efforts, the Office of Health Services aims to contribute to the overall mission of the department in maintaining public safety and promoting successful offender rehabilitation.

 

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:  

  • Assist in Pharmaceutical Operations: Help the Pharmacist with acquiring, preparing, and distributing medications in the outpatient dispensing area. Ensure the pharmacy is well-stocked and efficiently operated.
  • Manage Prescription Data: Enter prescription information into the pharmacy's computerized system and maintain accurate pharmacy files, including prescriptions, medication logs, and purchase orders.
  • Prepare and Deliver Orders: Prepackage and label medications for dorms, nursing units, outside institutions, and the emergency room. Ensure accuracy and cleanliness and deliver pharmacy products as needed.
  • Train and Support Staff: Train Department of Corrections staff on the pharmacy computer program and Health Service Bulletins (HSBs). Assist the Pharmacist in preparing reports and correspondence.
  • Inventory and Compliance: Inspect pharmaceutical inventory monthly for expired items, handle returns with proper paperwork, and ensure all pharmacy files are up-to-date and properly stored. Communicate with healthcare staff to verify prescription accuracy.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pharmacy Technician License in good standing with the Florida Board of Pharmacy and the Florida Department of Health.
