ADVERTISING TITLE: VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTOR III

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Reception and Medical Center in the Security department.

Our mission as a Vocational Instructor III at FDOC is to equip inmates with valuable skills for great jobs and brighter futures. We inspire confidence and success through hands-on training, helping them build a better life and make positive contributions to society.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:  

  • Run the Photographic Lab, capturing inmate photos, crime scenes, and industrial shots, plus urgent publicity tasks for Tallahassee.
  • Create inmate ID badges daily, update records, and ensure compliance by sending images to Tallahassee.
  • Teach and supervise inmates in photography, from taking shots to maintaining equipment.
  • Capture gang tattoos, print work cards, and ensure release photos are ready, all while managing inventory and security.
  • Coordinate with staff for tech upgrades, ensure safe chemical use, and evaluate and counsel inmates on their progress.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
