OPS (TEMPORARY) FOOD CONTROL SPECIALIST (COOK)

This is a 20 hour a week position.
Paid Bi-Weekly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have at least (1) one year of cooking experience in a commercial or cafeteria-style setting (excluding fast food)
- Willing and able to become a Certified Food Manager upon hire (training will be provided at the facility)
- Willing and able to work 10 hour shifts
- Willing and able to workweekends and holidays as required
- Willing and able to lift 50 pounds
- Willing and able to work in Lake City, Florida
- Successful completion of background screening process to include, but not limited to, drug testing and finger printing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic computer skills
- Food preparation experience in a Long-Term care facility
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent will work under the supervision of the Food Service Director and the Food Service Administrator in the day to day food service operation at the State Veterans' Domiciliary Home. Incumbent will ensure that food is stored, prepared, distributed and served under sanitary conditions. Ensures compliance with state and facility safety procedures in the operation of food production and cleaning of equipment. Ensures that clean and sanitary conditions are maintained in all areas of the kitchen food preparation and serving lines. Operates and maintains equipment used according to FDVA procedures.
- Prepare and cook all foods. Assist in preparation of all cold foods. Make Jell-O, all salads, and all desserts. Pull and pre-prep foods for the next 3 days menu. Help setup and serve all meals, stock dining room (entire drink station and all condiments), and stock resident kitchens. Clean all tables and chairs after each meal and replace with table clothes after breakfast and lunch daily, take all dirty table clothes down to laundry.
- Maintain dish room, serving area, dining room, and food storage areas in an orderly and sanitary condition. Clean all dishes utilizing sanitary techniques, sweep, mop, and pressure wash kitchen floors, and spot clean the dining room floors. Keep milk box full and clean. Keep chemicals in chemical room and keep chemical room clean and organized (everything off floor). Keep all hand soap and paper towel dispensers filled throughout the kitchen and foodservice restroom.
- Prepare bag lunches and make HS sandwiches. Record all temperatures in temperature book (food and equipment).
- Complete all daily and weekly assigned cleaning tasks as well as any other cleaning assigned by your supervisor.
- Rotate stock throughout (dry storage, refrigerators, and freezers). Report any and all faulty equipment to supervisor.
- Set up steam wells and hot foods for all meals.
- Wrap silverware. Leave table clothes, a clean red bucket w/bleach water, and a towel for evening nursing staff. Leave snacks for evening shift (HS snacks, milk, filled snack rack, and cereal basket).
- Check in and put away stock off trucks. Assist co-workers as requested by supervisor.
- Assure all equipment is turned off properly and that all doors are locked at night prior to leaving.
- Attend department and all staff meetings as required. Any and all other related duties assigned by your supervisor
