MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current employee of Florida Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English: reading, speaking, and writing
- Must have excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal Skills
- Must have excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook and Word)
- Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years secretarial or clerical work experience
- One (1) year experience in a health care setting is preferred.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Executive Nursing Director. Responsibilities include initiating the admission packet, assist in the coordination, discharge/transfer of residents and the record maintenance process for a State Veterans’ Nursing Home.
- Maintain accurate active medical record in the unit
- Maintain and report any changes in appointment calendar and transportation for the residents, schedules and tracks resident laboratory tests
- Initiates the Unit Admission Package and coordinates the admission process with the Admission Coordinator and nursing staff
- Assists with the discharging/transferring of residents
- Assists the Health Information Specialist in Medical Record maintenance for the facility including organizing records, filing, monitoring for signatures, and transcribing monthly weights and vital signs into the clinical record keeping system
- Performs functions at the nursing unit station to maintain an organized nursing environment, which include answering the telephone, record keeping and filing
- Performs needed functions in the FDVA computerized record keeping system
- Attends all required facility training
- Perform other related duties as required
