Trial Court Law Clerk

Position Number:  8924

Starting Annual Salary:  $45,817.20 – Florida Bar Member

$41,235.48 – Starting salary awaiting Florida Bar results.

 

The position is responsible for drafting memoranda, opinions, orders, and reports; conducting legal research; reviewing briefs and case files; and advising judges on pending litigation and issues.  The largest portion of a law clerk’s assignment focuses on pro se postconviction motions.

 

Education, Experience, Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations: 

 

  • Juris doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Requires membership in good standing with the Florida Bar or a membership with the Florida Bar within one year of hire.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Ability to communicate complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing; Ability to research and apply Florida law; Ability to work independently and as part of the law clerk team; Ability to prioritize assignments and produce timely and accurate work product; Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters in accordance with Court Administration policies, the Rules Regulating Florida Bar, the Florida Statutes, and the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration.
