Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a professional position within the CareerSource Service system responsible for providing training, education career counseling and job placement service to a broad range of customers. These services are identified as Career Services: i.e. basic care services and individualized career services in accordance with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, WIOA Act, WIOA Title III.

 

Greet customers and provide individualized and/or group counseling/case management services labor market information and employment opportunities. Conduct interviews and perform assessments to determine a customers job readiness through aptitudes, interests testing, personal characteristics, education, work history, skill levels, language proficiency. Provide various Labor Market Exchange services for individuals and/or groups which consist of intake, assessments, counseling, orientations, testing, resume assistance, effective job search assistance, job referrals, interviewing techniques, job placements, explain re-employment and employment applications in addition to utilizing  standardized counseling techniques which will assist customers in deciding vocational goals and employability plans for entrance into employment. Determine eligibility for and/or participation in special programs and coordinate services for referrals to other programs...i.e. Veterans program, Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act ( WIOA) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)…etc. Record and document customer’s interaction on a daily basis by entering pertinent information in the appropriate systems such as Employ Florida (EF), Document Management System (DMS), Customer Tracker…etc.

 

Provide career services by engaging customers to determine these services are appropriate for individuals to obtain or retain employment. These services include: comprehensive and specialized assessments of skills level and services needed in-dept.Interview and evaluate job seekers for job readiness by identifying employment barriers and employment goals; development of indivisualized employment plans; group and/or individualized counceling and monitoring; career planning (e.g. case management; short term and long term goals pro-vocational services. Coordinate work experiences that are linked to careers, as well as financial literacy services; workforce preparation activities that help individuals acquire basic academic, critical thinking, self-management skills and as well as other competencies. Interview and assess job seekers to determine eligibility for and/or participation in specials programs and coordinate services for local and state agencies.

 

Promote CareerSource services and program through community outreach, telephone, and email in addition to job fairs and recruitment events as required.

Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft Office, applications, includes. Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Employ Florida (EF)
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to record and document the customer’s interaction in required systems
  • Ability to conduct an effective interview.
  • Ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to create, write and develop professional resumes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectivlely in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to engage, understand and respond to the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:

  • Successful completion of the Florida Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within 12 months of hire.
  • Required to travel locally and must furnish own transportation.

Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Human Services, Education, or a related field.
  • Successfully Complete the Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within 12 months of hire.
  • Professional or non-professional experience in employment security, interviewing, counseling, job placement, aptitude testing, and assessments can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Bi-lingual - Read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
  • The selected candidate may be required to work weekends or after regular work hours at job fairs, or community meetings once or twice a month.

 

Pay:

$33,760.00 Annually

The Work You Will Do:        

The Employment Security Representative (ESR) II is a professional position that provides specialized employment services to individuals needing employment assistance. You will be focused on placement services using Employ Florida (EF), job boards, local newspapers, and community resources. You will also prioritize work demands focusing on customer satisfaction and ensuring quality referrals based on employer-defined skill sets and requirements. You will also provide employers job order services, updates, placement verification, follow-up, and hiring events. Ensure that all services provided are adequately documented in EF and ensure that career seekers and employers understand all services provided by CareerSource Polk.

You will work independently and be responsible for identifying and analyzing complex problems; developing, recommending, and implementing solutions to resolve problems; providing instructions; taking necessary actions in resolving problems; advising management of problems and/or policy concerns related to program and operational functions. You must plan, organize, communicate, and coordinate work assignments, and work cooperatively with others.
