Requirements:

Work at the FWC is cross-functional, meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The Commission expects employees to function across FWC's organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.

 

Overview:

This is a weekday full-time seasonal employment position based out of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Tenoroc Youth Conservation Center in Lakeland.

 

The successful candidates will join our team May 19 - July 30.

 

This position will assist in delivery of summer camp programming which will embody the four pillars of the Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network (FYCCN): Shooting Sports, Ethical Angling, Boating, and Wildlife Discovery. FYCCN works to get kids outdoors and create the next generation that cares. TYCC will host 6 weeks of summer camp in 2025. Three (3) different camps will be offered including: Precision Sports Camp with a focus on the shooting sports of archery and various firearms marksmanship, Hooks and Hulls Camp focused on ethical angling and boating skills, and Outdoor Adventure Camp which includes all four pillars including archery, ethical angling, kayaking, and wildlife discovery activities.

 

This position will work alongside teammates to provide a safe and educational summer camp experience for youth in grades 3-9.

Experience:

  • Experience working with youth and experience with pillar activities is preferred.
  • High School Diploma, preference for applicants having completed or seeking a higher education degree.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be comfortable with working in adverse weather conditions such as heat and rain.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
