Your Specific Responsibilities:
Actively engages in providing necessary support as needed and as directed in the staging of all SunTrax events. Set-up/ breakdown of meeting space configurations with tables, chairs, and staging. Relocates furniture and equipment from the building as requested. Provides other meeting room amenity accommodations as needed and as directed.
Responsible for pick-up, delivery, and set up of equipment as well as other event items as needed and as directed for events or the support or maintenance of the SunTrax campus.
Maintains a high level of cleanliness of all facilities, equipment, and property as directed and as scheduled including but not limited to before, during, and after all events.
Operates, maintains, and utilizes various SunTrax testing systems, providing support as directed and as needed.
Provides set-up and staging of various safety signage, traffic cone configurations, and other safety precautions as directed and as necessary for the highway speed oval and other areas of the SunTrax campus testing tracks. Inspects and maintains all test tracks free of debris, and promptly reports all track safety hazards. Performs/ assists with hurricane preparedness and post-storm efforts.
Performs general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as directed. This includes performing preventative maintenance on all buildings and related equipment. Perform minor repairs on all plumbing, electrical, and lighting equipment. Perform repair/ alterations of building woodwork (partitions, doors, cabinets, and special furniture). Prepares and paints interior and exterior of buildings and equipment and other miscellaneous items as directed.
Maintains and operates all utility vehicles in good working and clean condition.
Performs routine maintenance of grounds areas ensuring a clean appearance, including removal of litter and debris from in and around the property and properly disposing of it.
Operates turbine blower to clear gravel and debris from the highway speed oval and other areas of the property as directed and as needed.
Performs grounds maintenance as directed and as needed utilizing a utility vehicle equipped with an agricultural sprayer to assist with weed control throughout the property.
Operates a pressure washer for cleaning various areas of the facility.
Performs small equipment maintenance and service as directed and required to ensure optimal function for use.
Ensures all State motor vehicle maintenance is performed as scheduled and as required, transporting them to the district maintenance yard as required and as necessary. Maintains the cleanliness of all State vehicles at the facility, this includes routine cleaning of the outside and inside of the vehicles.
Maintains storage, equipment, and mechanical rooms in a neat, clean, and organized manner at all times.
Maintains an accurate inventory of maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies.
Assists with the shipping and receiving of equipment and materials, including the receiving, set up, breakdown, and transporting of rented items as needed.
Provides support as needed for various work groups based on projects when directed and as necessary to support the operations of the organization.
Provides support as directed and as necessary for outsourced services, repairs, replacements, and maintenance performed by contracted vendors.
Ensures work performed, by self and others comply with all safety standards applicable to the work being performed which may include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), State Fire Marshal, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and other local and state codes, rules, and regulations.
Identifies and reports all service and safety deficiencies promptly that need correcting. Immediately stops all unsafe work from being performed ensuring the work environment and the work being performed are safe.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position will require driving a motor vehicle and other types of equipment such as a forklift, utility carts, high reach, and other types of equipment where certification may be needed to operate.
Knowledge of:
- OSHA workplace safety practices
- the principles and techniques used in the skilled mechanical repair trades, including carpentry, basic wiring, painting, and plumbing
Skills in:
- using gasoline and electrically powered equipment
- the use of common bench and hand tools and the equipment used in maintenance and repair work
Ability to:
- follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- lift and move 50 lbs.
- perform facility and grounds maintenance
- maintain outdoor landscaping and irrigation
- plan and organize building maintenance and repair work, read and write, interpret blueprints, take accurate measurements, perform basic math, and understand, apply, regulations, policies and procedures
- operate a forklift
- work with and easily communicate with all staff and visitors
- troubleshoot and problem solve all building functions and issues.
Other Job-Related Requirements:
Class E Driver’s License required. The Department may require occasional weekend and/or evening work hours.
This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:
- three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation;
- any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years;
- a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and
- a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years.
Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
