Annual Base Salary: $47,226.12 to $48,170.64
Paid Bi-Weekly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Combination of two years of professional experience or education in budgeting, accounting, auditing or financial planning or analysis work.
- The ability to create, update and maintain computer spreadsheets with complex formulas and pivot tables.
- Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening and due diligence process.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference given to applicants who possess the following:
- Knowledge of the state FLAIR system.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting
- Knowledge of state accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and convey ideas both verbally and in writing.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This is a professional budget position within the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs requiring the exercise of independent judgment in the performance of duties work. The position is assigned to the agency Budget Analyst Supervisor-C.
The candidate will primarily be responsible for reviewing and approving all purchase requests for all budget entities within the agency for completeness and accuracy. Ensure all budgetary codes are correct on the purchase request. Monitors budget authority and releases for availability of funds before purchases are finalized for approval.
The candidate will also be responsible for compilation, reporting, and monitoring of agency’s budget related activities:
- Assists with the preparation of the agency’s annual operating budget in accordance with form and content requirements of the General Appropriations Act (GAA).
- Entering all budgetary transactions into the financial system.
- Assist with the preparation of division operating budgets according to the internal organization structure.
- Analyze budget data and make recommendations.
- Enter the budgetary codes for the operating budget, non-operating budget, Fixed Capital Outlay and estimated revenue into the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) system.
- Independently reviews monthly financial reports to ensure accuracy of data and identify and analyze any significant variances.
- Provide internal worksheets for all divisions to assist with the accurate recording of accounting transactions monthly.
- Prepare journal entries as needed.
- Writing and editing narratives for budget amendments and ensure that these documents are clear and concise.
- Assists with the preparation of the annual Legislative Budget Request for the agency.
- Assists with the monthly Spending Plan meetings through the guidance of the Budget Analyst Supervisor-C.
- Assists with approving all the My Florida Market Place (MFMP) Purchase requests for the agency.
- Prepares complex excel spreadsheets for supervisor and agency senior management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
