Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work as a team and utilizes expertise as a dental assistant in assisting the dentist in all clinical procedures. Effectively prepare operatory with materials and instruments for dental procedure.
  • Maintains material knowledge up to date as provided by manufacturers.
  • Properly prepare dental restorative materials in a timely and effective manner.
  • Properly prepare necessary solutions on a daily/weekly basis required for dental use.
  • Appropriately maintain state equipment and instruments through lubrication, sterilization and daily cleaning.
  • Accurately expose and file digital x-rays
  • Accurately document records as instructed by dentist and the CHD Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Handles Behavior Management cases as dictated by the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Accurately enters patient information into approved electronic health record
  • Schedules clinic appointments in Eaglesoft, registers clients in HMS, controls flow of dental clinic patients and clinic schedules.
  • Maintain patient’s records
  • In a courteous and accurate manner inform public of clinic procedures, CHD services and refer to other agencies as needed.
  • Travel to all clinics as requested.
  • Complies with security procedure guidelines.
  • Adheres to uniformity of dental procedures countywide as approved by Dental Service Manager
  • Instruct patient/parents (guardian) in oral hygiene utilizing appropriate aids

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of dental procedures, expanded functions, dental materials, dental terminology, and behavior management.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Records and digital radiographs.
  • Skills on preparation of dental materials, skills on sterilization and infection control, skills on equipment maintenance.
  • Skills on delivery of expanded functions, skills on record keeping, computer skills, skills on efficient patient flow.
  •  Ability to communicate with children, parents, co-workers, in general. 
  • Ability to learn insurance procedures
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Ability to avoid and resolve conflict in a professional manner. Incumbent covers clinic in the Pinellas County area.
  • Ability to drive to satellite clinics.

 

 

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Expanded functions certificate or at least 1 year of dental clinical experience.

Preferred –

  • At least one year of experience as an EFDA
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish highly desired.
  • Competent computer skills
  • Experience with behavior management or assisting dentist in the use of nitrous oxide

Where You Will Work:

This position is available in the Dental Program of Clinical Health Services at the Mid County Dental Clinic in Pinellas County, FL and will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Dentist. This position requires local travel and some possible weekend and evening hours.
