The Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs (FDVA) seeks to hire talented and dedicated individuals who share our commitment to excellence. The incumbent in this position serves as a Distributed Computer Systems Analyst  - SES for the Agency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years’ experience with configuring and maintaining Windows Server 2012 R2/2016/2019 including Active Directory and Hyper-V technology
  • A+, Network +,  or higher certification, or equivalent Military experience
  • Possess and maintain current driver’s license and have the ability to travel within the state of Florida
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. of equipment
  • Successful completion of the background screening process.

Preferences: 

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2013/2016/2019
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Equivalent
  • Associates Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent in this position serves as the System Administrator for the Agency.  The System Administrator shall install, configure, maintain, and backup all servers to include monitoring logs and addressing performance issues.  They will analyze and coordinate resolution of hardware, software, and communication problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes.  The incumbent will design and manage group policies and access controls as well as manage Active Directory for the Agency.

  • Knowledge of: Network protocols (Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WSUS); Enterprise Email Systems in a geographically diverse environment; enterprise information technology (IT) architecture; server and client operating systems; principles and methods for integrating server components; server diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques; the type and frequency of routine maintenance; information technology (IT) security principles; access authentication methods; problem solving techniques; disaster recovery continuity of operations plans; data backup, types of backups (e.g., full, incremental), and recovery concepts and tools; system administration, operating system hardening techniques; monitoring, detection and remediation tools and procedures; measures or indicators of system performance and availability; the type and frequency of routine maintenance needed to keep equipment functioning properly; networked systems management principles, models, methods (e.g., end-to-end systems performance monitoring), and tools.
  • Skilled with/in: System administration for physical and virtual servers; troubleshooting system performance issues.
  • Ability to: Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; process information logically, troubleshoot and solve problems; work collaboratively or independently; communicate clearly-orally and in writing; display professional attitude in all circumstances; learn in a fast-paced environment; pay attention to detail; analyze and interpret technical data.
