SPECIAL NOTES:

High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

Preference will be given to applicants with an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. 

Applicants are required to have to have the following: 

  • Three (3) or more years of experience as an insurance representative, insurance agent or insurance adjuster for an insurance agency or insurance company or a degree in insurance or Risk Management.
  • Experience in generating original business correspondence.  

Preference will be giving to applicants fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).

Some travel required. Must have the ability to travel for a period of 7-10 days. 

Position may require early mornings, nights, weekends or holiday work, as directed by the supervisor.

This position will start at the minimum salary of $35,797.08 annually/$2,983.09 monthly.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of insurance principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to review and resolve insurance complaints.
  • Ability to effectively manage workload and work well independently.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Skill in use of computers.
  • Skill in use of Microsoft Word.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Investigates and responds to sensitive, complex and high priority consumer inquiries concerning insurance issues. Answers the Consumer Helpline to provide assistance on insurance related questions and/or concerns. In addition, this position answers calls from consumers concerning Agent Licensing, Unclaimed Property, Insurance Fraud, Rehabilitation and Liquidation and Get Lean. Serves as a First Responder for Hurricane/Disaster Assistance, when required.
