ADVERTISING/WORKING TITLE: DOCUMENT SPECIALIST SUPERVISOR
This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Circuit 17-5 Broward West.
The mission of a Document Specialist Supervisor is to lead and support our word processing team with dedication and integrity, ensuring efficient and accurate workflow. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervises and trains word processing staff, assigns tasks, and ensures even workload distribution.
- Manages and maintains control books, departmental files, and daily mail processing.
- Motivates and evaluates employees to meet department standards through regular meetings and established criteria.
- Provides support for all users and determines staffing needs to ensure smooth workflow.
- Ensures accuracy and compliance with financial procedures and departmental standards.

REQUIREMENTS:
Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.
- Two years of work experience in the operation of word processing equipment; or three years of secretarial or clerical work experience; or possession of a Certified Professional Secretary Certificate.
- College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required three years of secretarial or clerical work experience. Vocational/technical training in an area of secretarial science or office/business studies or word processing can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
- A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required three years of secretarial or clerical.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
