Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Citrus County in its mission to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision to be the healthiest state in the nation. Need to know position with access to medical records. Has computer access to Health Management System HMS and Florida Shots immunization program. Has access to secured areas and prescription medications. Adheres to Florida Department of Health in Citrus County Confidentiality, Security policy and procedures, and attends annual confidentiality and security trainings and updates. Successful completion of a urine drug screen is a condition of employment.
May be assigned to any clinic location or program within the Florida Department of Health in Citrus.
Primary responsibilities will primarily be providing care to Family Planning and prenatal clients, which may include Sexually Transmitted Infections, and Immunizations including but not limited to:
- Patient assessment.
- Nursing interviews.
- Planning patient care.
- Conducts point of care testing.
- Implementation of provider orders.
- Evaluation of response to treatment.
- Maintain efficient clinic flow.
- Administration of medications and required pharmacy tracking.
- Evaluate vaccination status and administer per protocol.
- Education and counselling.
- Serve as patient Advocate.
- Documentation of all information in Electronic Medical Record (HMS).
- Face to face and phone triage.
- Follow up and case management, including but not limited to, abnormal paps, labs and any diagnostic studies of OB and FP clients.
- Referral management and tracking, including but not limited to, colposcopy, LEEP, sterilization, LARC’s, and Well Women visits.
- Management of Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Prpgram clients.
- Obtaining authorizations from third party payers for FP clients, as needed
- Responsible for maintenance of medications and supplies in the crash cart, including but not limited to, documenting daily lock check in logbook, as well as monthly inventory check of medication expiration date with proper removal and replacement, as needed.
- RN protocol nurse issuance.
- Specimen collection and processing.
- Supervision of professional and paraprofessional staff.
- Responds to patient questions and concern in person and via phone.
- Conducts monthly/quarterly medication and/or vaccine inventory.
- Assist with the orientation of new employees and students
General duties/responsibilities:
- Prepares reports.
- Scheduling appointments.
- Utilize and maintain equipment.
- Clean/sterilize work area and equipment and replenish stock, as needed.
- Will attend all staff meetings to maintain working knowledge of changes in the organization.
- Enters time in People First and EARs according to policy.
- Completes all required trainings within required time frames.
- Participates in community events as well as provide immunizations, as applicable.
- Provide clinical expertise and subject matter information at community events.
- Completes quarterly chart audits, participates in QI activities.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques
- Knowledge of information and techniques needed to recognize and treat injuries, diseases, and deformities.
- Knowledge of drug properties and interactions, preventative health-care measure, high risk behaviors, and healthy lifestyle
- Ability to administer medications
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to utilize electronic health records
- Ability to walk more than 100 feet, lift more than 20 pounds, bend, and stand for more than 20 minutes
- Ability to drive own or FDOH vehicle to and from schools, meetings, and community events
- Ability to speak in public
- Knowledge, skill, and ability to utilize essential medical equipment
- Ability to analyze, think critically, and problem solve
- Knowledge of customer and personal service and customer satisfaction
Qualifications:
Minimum -
Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.
Valid Florida Drivers License
Preferred –
Experience working in a medical clinic, Experience working with pregnant women or women of childbearing age.
