Employment Security Representative I

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provides the range of Wagner-Peyser labor exchange services according to state and federal policies and procedures;
  • Conducts individual interviews with program customers for eligibility review determinations to determine relevant job search facts and to identify employment needs;
  • Explains and clarifies re-employment policies and procedures for reemployment assistance claimants, employers and other appropriate persons to provide an understanding of rights and responsibilities, employment related options and other relative information;
  • Conducts group orientation and re-employment sessions (Job Club) informing customers about labor market information, job qualifications, employer requirements and training opportunities available through the one-stop systems and other resources;
  • Conducts skills assessment testing;
  • Assists job seekers by using a variety of computerized and manual resources to identify suitable employment opportunities for which they may qualify.
  • Meets with employers in the assigned area to provide information concerning one-stop services and benefits;
  • Responds to questions and gives guidance regarding federal and state employment related laws, guidelines and regulations and new developments and resources designed to support businesses and employers and other defined needs;
  • Promotes employer services including Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM);
  • Trains employers to utilize the workforce system for their recruitment and hiring needs;
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with job seekers and employers and other training and employment personnel;
  • Negotiates written exclusive recruitment and hiring agreements with employers, facilitates referrals of qualified applicants and ensures that the conditions of the agreement are met;
  • Performs accurate, timely required data collection functions and ensures proper entry in Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM) (or the appropriate management information system); monitors performance and production reports to ensure that relevant performance standards are met.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

This position requires ability to deliver a wide range of services to employers and job seekers in the region; must have strong customer service and computer skills, including proficiency with web-based applications.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:

  • Required to travel locally and must furnish own transportation.

 

Preferred:

Preference will be given to those applicants with a bachelor’s degree, or four years of professional experience in areas related to employment security, interviewing, counseling, job placement, aptitude testing and assessments, job development, and job analysis.

 

Pay:

$37,440.00 – $40,000.00 annually, based on experience.

The Employment Security Representative I is under the direct functional supervision of the contracted service of the Regional Workforce Board. CareerSource Madison performs highly complex and varied professional functions to promote employability for job seekers and workforce development for employers served by the regional CareerSource System.  This position involves delivering a broad range of employment services to both job seekers and employers across the region. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships are essential.
