WORKING TITLE: CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE TECHNICIAN
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Jackson Correctional Institution in the Administrative and Office Support department.
Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Track and Inspire: Conduct assessments to monitor inmate progress, set positive goals, and motivate inmates, while developing comprehensive management plans.
- Coordinate Referrals: Plan and coordinate targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services, collaborating for optimal outcomes.
- Informed Decisions: Evaluate reports, interviews, and observations to make well-informed decisions on inmate management.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate and detailed inmate records in the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and other applications, compiling and developing records as needed.
- Lead Hearings: Lead disciplinary hearings, make custody and reclassification recommendations, handle special status inmate reviews, and ensure eligible inmates receive gain time awards.
