APD’s Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) Overview

 DDDP is a forensic facility working with individuals with disabilities in a secure setting that operates on the campus of Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL, where the campus and facilities are tobacco free.  

Pathways is a 34-bed all male forensic facility working with individuals with disabilities in a secure setting.  These individuals have been adjudicated by the courts as incompetent to proceed to trial and have significant behavioral and psychiatric issues.  Pathways provides rehabilitative, vocational, and daily living skills training to the individuals served which allows for a smooth transition back into a non-secure residential or community setting.

SALARY RANGE

 $1,598.00- $1,735.00 Bi-weekly 

 

Position Summary 

Working hours: FLEXIBLE -Routine hours are established as 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST with flexible working hours to conduct weekly religious services on weekends and evening hours to meet the needs of the program.

 

The Work You Will Do 

  •           Provide pastoral care and emotional support for residents and staff up to and including daily interactions with residents. Prepares, coordinates and conducts weekly religious/worship services for residents at DDDP and Pathways. Offer reflective, non-judgmental listening to individuals. Develop and foster connections with residents and team members. Educate residents on services available from chaplain. 

              Prepare and conduct routine activities or courses to include bible study courses. 

              Coordinate activities and coursework for residents to include scheduling, obtaining needed class materials, seeking residents and/or accepting referrals for participation, creating class rosters,

              Interview and counsel residents on a variety of subject matter. Follow up with residents. Provide input as applicable to resident service team, document in resident progress notes, process documentation for religious dietary needs. Maintain records related to utilization of chaplain services

The position headquarters is at DDDP-in Chattahoochee, Florida and provides services to forensic residents at campuses in Chattahoochee and Marianna.

Minimum Qualifications 

·       A valid driver’s license.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in  theology, religion, education, or one of the social or behavioral sciences, or graduation from a seminary or school of theology or professional experience as a clergyperson or related experience in conducting religious services, counseling or guidance relating to the ministry may substitute on a year for year basis.
  • Provide a current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate official of the ecclesiastical body.
  • One year of professional experience as a clergyperson or related experience in conducting religious services or in providing counseling or guidance relating to the ministry.

 

Additional Requirements for This Position

  • Certification in the Agency’s Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program. Advance training may be required.
  • A pre-employment and annual TB screening.
  • Annual CPR Certification.

              Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.

Background Screening Requirement
