This internal advertisement is for SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Region 1 Office in the Program and Re-Entry department.
The mission of the Programs and Re-Entry Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide comprehensive programs and services that prepare inmates for successful reintegration into society.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Program Implementation and Assessment: Assist in implementing new education programs and procedures and assess the need for expanded or new programs in collaboration with regional and institutional administrators.
- Monitoring and Compliance: Regularly visit institutions to monitor academic education programs, ensuring compliance with Florida Statutes, department rules, and contracts, and submit reports with findings and recommendations.
- Budget and Staffing Recommendations: Make budget and staffing recommendations based on regional needs to the Bureau Chief of Programs or designee.
- Technical Assistance and Training: Provide technical assistance to wardens, assistant wardens, and program managers, and coordinate or conduct training for education and library services staff.
- Representation and Coordination: Represent the department in meetings, workshops, and conferences on education and library services, and coordinate regularly with regional program managers and coordinators.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must possess a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience specifically within the field of education.
- Postsecondary education may substitute for up to 6 years of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to those with an active Florida Professional Teaching Certificate and/or Florida Certification in Educational Leadership.
- Experience teaching in a correctional setting.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
