Position Summary

This position spends the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and who have the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees serving as supervisors, administrators, and directors

 

The Work You Will Do 

The primary function of this position is to manage, plan and direct the Food Service operation for Sunland Center. This position supervises the daily work of employees that work in the Food Service Department on second shift.

 

Manage, organize, plan, and supervise all aspects of food planning, purchasing, storage, preparation, and serving to ensure operations are within established policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols to meet the nutritional care of Sunland residents, and ensure compliance with all Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulations standards on a daily and ongoing basis

 

Monitors compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving and building maintenance in lodging and dining facilityKeeps records required by government agencies regarding sanitation and regarding food subsidies where indicated.

 

Assumes ultimate responsibility for Food Service Staff on second shift. Monitor, in-service, motivate and direct staff in areas of job performance. Complete employee performance evaluations and performance expectations within established timeframes as required. Evaluates all supervisors and reviews their subordinate’s evaluation.

 

Maintain timesheet, ensuring accuracy and submit timely in accordance with policy and procedure. Review and approve timesheets as required. Monitor all time and attendance to ensure all coverage levels are met, review and address areas of concern with staff and management as required.

 

Monitors food preparation and methods, size of portions, and garnishing and presentation of food to ensure food is prepared and presented in accepted manner. Tests cooked food by tasting and smelling to ensure palatability and flavor conformity. Creates specialty dishes and develops recipes to be used in dining facility.

 

Determines manpower and equipment needs to establish work schedules and training programs for food service employees in collaboration with peer.

 

Establishes standards for production, quality and sanitation; and performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections to ensure that standards are maintained.

 

Develops and implements quality standards for nutrition and preventative maintenance programs. Investigates and resolves complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations.

 

Completes all required training. Monitor and tracks to ensure assigned staff complete required training.

 

Assist in the hiring process of staff, to include but not limited to, participating in the interview process, making recommendation for hire. Recommends corrective and/or disciplinary actions as necessary.

 

Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Experience in Food Service
  • Preferred: ServSafe Certification 
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of experience supervising employees

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

 

Background Screening Requirement
