Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for administering services for the delivery of Veteran Workforce Development activities and services in accordance with guidelines as stated in Public Law 100-323. Working with all levels of organization to ensure all aspects of the Veteran Program are met, while maintaining close communication with FloridaCommerce Veterans Program Administrators and Federal Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans Program Administrators and CareerSource Chipola’s (CSC)  corporate management team.

 

This position spends the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action, including all employees serving as supervisors, administrators, and directors. Note:  All actions are discussed at length with the CSC Program & Center Director or designee.

 

In consultation with the CSC Program & Center Director or designee, completes personnel paperwork for new hires and current FloridaCommerce staff.  Monitors worker performance, recommend personnel actions, including but not limited to promotions, transfers, performance improvement, and dismissals.  Explains rules, policies, or regulations, and recommend actions to ensure compliance. Ensures all required reports are submitted to management and all employees are completing daily job requirements reporting requirements are met and appropriate services are provided. Confers with personnel to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures.

 

Reviews programs, services, forms, and reports and confers with the  CSC Program & Center Director or designee and users to identify problems and improvements.  Prepares manuals and trains workers in use of new forms, reports, and procedures in accordance  to the organizational policy.

 

Coordinates, analyzes and reviews activities of assigned associates.  Facilitates input and feedback from associates.  Assists the  CSC Program & Center Director or designee with  day-to-day activities of the office, which includes handling complaints from customers, employers and staff. 

 

Provides administrative support for program activities and FloridaCommerce staff. Ensures necessary correspondence and reports are accurate and submitted timely. Maintains accurate documentation and administrative records.  Ensures that local performance standards are met and meets all reporting deadlines set by the CSC Program & Center Director.   

 

Responsible for providing training, education, career counseling/case management and assessments to a broad range of customers.  Provide individualized and/or group labor exchange services to eligible persons, including intake and assessment, counseling, testing, job search assistance, referral and placement, Reemployment Assistance (RA) services and continued claims services.

 

Provides services to Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) services to Reemployment Assistance claimants in accordance with all established guidelines and timeframes.

 

Assists customers in deciding vocational goals and developing employability plans for entrance into employment.  Interviews and assesses customers for job readiness through aptitude tests, interests, personal characteristics, education and work history.

 

Will receive and process job orders and will code each opening by occupation and industry in accordance with O”Net. Will conduct file searches on  job orders for qualified applicants adhering to veterans' preference and mandated Federal contractor requirements. Will also conduct timely job order follow-up and ensure follow-ups are completed timely by other staff.

 

In consultation with the CSC Program & Center Director or designee, performs program monitoring to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and makes recommendations for changes as needed.

 

Maintains accurate documentation and records for follow-up on customers. 

 

Promotes the CareerSource Center services and programs throughout the community via telephone contacts, job fairs, community organizations and public and private agencies.

 

Recommend improvements to work methods or procedures, complete training to all staff members, ensuring all reporting requirements are met, appropriate services are provided, research and respond to participant inquiries and/or complaints regarding career managements issues.

 

Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

Minimum:

  • The selected candidate may be required to work weekends or after regular work hours at job fairs, or community meetings once or twice a month.
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Travel may be required to travel.

 

Other job-related requirements for this position:

  • The incumbent must possess or obtain certification as a workforce Professional within one year of employment in the position.
  • The incumbent is required to travel in the administrative area and must provide own transportation.

 

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of Wagner-Peyser laws and regulations.
  • Computer keyboard typing skills due to the level of data entry in the management information systems.
  • Experience in the Employ Florida and ReCONNECT systems.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

 

Pay:  $44,060.11 - $50,000.00
