**NOTE**  This advertisement is for a part-time OPS Position for 28 hours per week.



This is work providing professional dental services consisting of the examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and care of conditions within the human oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures. Work may also consist of the promotion and establishment of population-based dental preventive and educational programs and related dental public health activities.

Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and supervising employees.


This position may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.  Emergency duty required of this position includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.



Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress and assessing performance.

Performs diagnostic, preventive, restorative, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic, surgical, and orthodontic procedures within the scope of the dental practice act.


Develops treatment plans.


Maintains treatment records in accordance with the Dental Practice Act.


Supervises and trains dental personnel.


Evaluates program performance and develops quality improvement plans.


Monitors the quality of care to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.


Coordinates and directs county and institution programs.

Provides consultative and technical assistance to public and private entities regarding oral health issues


Promotes and develops community and school-based preventive and educational programs.


Promotes the development of a county integrated, coordinated oral health system between the public and private sectors.


Conducts needs assessments and monitors county oral health indicators.


Prepares grant proposals and manages contracts.

This occupation requires licensure as a Dentist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes.


Must hold and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Incumbent will be required to become compliant with Jackson County DOH Operation Policy No. A-005 regarding immunizations.
